We are a volunteer-led Christian environmental initiative.
As Christians, we are called to be agents of renewal in the world, working for the good of the community in which we are placed. We aim to contribute to the practical work of conservation in Malaysia and encourage an ethic of environmental care in the Malaysian Christian community and beyond.
We draw inspiration from A Rocha, the international family of Christian conservation organisations.
We believe that caring for our environment is a matter of right response to God, who is the creator of all things and to whom the earth belongs. We seek to be faithful stewards by working for the care and flourishing of His creation, recognising that the earth does not exist simply for human use, but for the glory of God.
We also believe that people and the environment cannot be treated as separate: we are all part of the community of creation. Accordingly, we affirm A Rocha’s vision of a world where nature flourishes as people live equitably and sustainably, and recognise the importance of community in caring for creation.
After A Rocha began expanding internationally in the mid-1990s, Malaysians started visiting projects in other countries. At the same time, A Rocha staff such as Peter Harris and Dave Bookless began visiting Southeast Asia to give talks and seminars at churches, Bible colleges, and conferences.
In 2023, a group of local Christians interested in starting an A Rocha organisation in Malaysia formed and began meeting regularly to explore what the role of A Rocha could be here. In 2026, three years of discussion and prayer later, we launched Creation Care Malaysia to translate those discussions into practical activity, seeking to uphold the A Rocha commitment to sound science and sound theology.
While we pursue formal registration as an independent not-for-profit legal entity, Creation Care Malaysia is operating as an initiative of Navigate Together Sdn Bhd.
In five years’ time, across Malaysia, our hope is that this work will lead to:
In our work, we intend to concentrate on the following:
Mobilising and equipping churches and Christian organisations to care for creation.
Collaboratively working toward the conservation of biodiversity in urban spaces.
Partnering with landowners to regenerate degraded land.
Though not formally affiliated with A Rocha, our approach to creation care is guided by their five core commitments.
We follow Jesus Christ, who created the world and calls us to care for it.
We protect and restore nature and are committed to local places and people over the long term.
We celebrate the insights, perspectives and solutions offered by our diverse cultures.
We invest in good relationships through our commitment to God, one another and the wider creation.
We seek to work with anyone who shares our vision.
